British American Tobacco PLC (BATS.LN) said Friday that it will create new executive positions to help implement its strategy.

The company said it appointed Paul Lageweg as director of new categories--responsible for next-generation products--and Marina Bellini as director for digital and information. The changes will be effective Jan. 1, the FTSE 100-listed company said.

British American Tobacco also said it will be retiring the roles of chief operating officer and group business development director.
