--Private U.K. chemicals company Ineos is in talks to buy ConocoPhillips oil-and-gas assets in the North Sea valued at $3 billion, the Sunday Times reports.

--According to The Sunday Times, Ineos, which is owned by Britain's richest man Jim Ratcliffe, has placed a deposit for three months' exclusivity on the package.
