Duke Energy Corp. (DUK), in collaboration with an affiliate of Hunt Military Communities, a company that provides housing on military bases, will help provide solar power panels to more than 280 homes in South Carolina's Shaw Air Force Base.

Hunt Military Affiliates Hunt Southern Group and Hunt Alternative Energy Investments have provided 284 homes with 5,865 solar panels, which will offset approximately 40% of the total annual electrical consumption at Shaw Military Housing, Hunt Military said.

In all, solar energy production at Shaw Military Housing will equate to approximately 2.4 million kilowatt hours per year, Hunt said.

Duke Energy's Solar Rebate Program helped with the costs of the project.
