Oracle Corp. (ORCL) on Wednesday said it agreed to buy clinical-trials software company goBalto Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

The Redwood Shores, Calif., software company said goBalto's cloud-based software solutions help pharmaceutical companies and contract-research organizations accelerate clinical trials by streamlining and automating the time-consuming process of selecting and setting up research sites.

Oracle said the combination of its Oracle Health Sciences with goBalto will create an end-to-end cloud solution for clinical trials.

As of January 2015, goBalto had raised $37.8 million in venture-capital funding from investors including Mitsui Global Investment, Dolby Family Ventures, Aberdare Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures, Qualcomm Inc.'s (QCOM) venture-capital arm, according to PitchBook Data.
