428 Students to Receive Educational
Scholarships as Part of Foundation’s Three-Year, $6 Million
Commitment to Folds of Honor Announced in 2016
The Rite Aid Foundation announced today that 428 students have
been selected as 2017 Folds of Honor scholarship recipients through
its KidCents program. The scholarships, totaling more than $2
million, are the second round of scholarships to be awarded by The
Foundation’s KidCents program as part of a previously announced
three-year, $6 million commitment to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit
organization that provides educational scholarships to children of
fallen or disabled service members.
“The sacrifices of our military heroes and their families are
great and while no words will ever fully express our gratitude, The
Rite Aid Foundation remains committed to providing educational
support to the children helped by Folds of Honor,” said Tracy
Henderson, director of The Rite Aid Foundation and charitable
giving initiatives. “We’re proud to honor each of this year’s more
than 400 scholarship recipients, the largest group of recipients
since our partnership with Folds of Honor began in 2015, and we
look forward to working with the organization and honoring our
military heroes by educating their legacy.”
Starting this week and through October 20, Rite Aid associates
will recognize students receiving the scholarships during special
in-store celebration events. In addition to the scholarship, each
student will receive a commemorative certificate and Rite Aid gift
card.
Including this year’s scholarships, to date, The Rite Aid’s
Foundation’s KidCents program has awarded nearly $5.2 million to
fund educational scholarships through Folds of Honor.
“The support we’ve received from The Rite Aid Foundation’s
KidCents program, Rite Aid associates and customers is second to
none and has made a true and meaningful difference in the lives of
nearly 600 Folds of Honor students and families across our great
country,” said Major Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor Founder. “Together
with The Rite Aid Foundation, Folds of Honor will answer our call
of duty by serving the children of our military heroes, making sure
they and their loved ones – true American heroes – aren’t
forgotten.”
KidCents was developed by The Rite Aid Foundation to provide
Rite Aid customers an opportunity to do even more to help the kids
in the communities Rite Aid serves. Through KidCents, members of

in-store or online purchases to the nearest dollar and give their
change to one of more than 440 nonprofit organizations focused on
