The International Paper Company Salaried Savings Plan (the “Registrant”) is unable to timely file its Form 11-K for the period ended December 31, 2016 (the “2016 11-K”) due to unanticipated delays in finalizing the Registrant’s financial statements (including the requirement to finalize the external audit work necessary for inclusion of the financial statements in the 2016 11-K). As a result, the Registrant is unable to complete the 2016 11-K in a timely manner without unreasonable effort or expense.
