WASHINGTON, March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/
-- Today Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans)
announced that Penske Automotive Group donated more than
$1 million last year to the
organization through its "Service Matters" campaign. In the past
two years, Paralyzed Veterans' corporate partner Penske Automotive
Group has raised more than $2 million
for Paralyzed Veterans programs and services.
The campaign allows customers to make a donation when they have
had their vehicles serviced at a Penske Automotive Group
Dealership. All funds go toward supporting Paralyzed Veterans'
programs and services, such as benefits assistance, employment
counseling and adaptive sports programs—all of which are provided
free-of-charge to veterans and their families.
"Penske Automotive Group continues to amaze us with their
ongoing support and efforts around the Penske Automotive Group
'Service Matters' campaign," said Tom
Wheaton, paralyzed Navy veteran and National Treasurer of
Paralyzed Veterans, who celebrated the milestone at a recent event.
"This significant contribution will allow us to continue to serve
our nation's veterans, and to ensure those veterans have access to
programs and services to help them recover and rebuild their lives
after serious injuries. We are beyond grateful for this partnership
and truly appreciate their long-term commitment to veterans."
Throughout 2016, Penske Automotive Group's dealerships invited
customers to donate a $1 or more
toward its "Service Matters" campaign when customers serviced their
vehicle at any Penske Automotive Group dealership. To multiply the
impact of customers' contributions, Penske then matched each
donation—up to a total contribution of $500,000.
"It was an honor for Penske Automotive Group to be part of this
fundraising effort in 2016," said Robert H.
Kurnick Jr., Penske Automotive Group President. "We thank
our associates and our customers for their continued support of the
'Service Matters' campaign and for embracing the admirable work
performed by the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the Paralyzed
Veterans of America for the third consecutive year and look forward
to continuing our work together to help make a difference in the
lives of our American heroes," Kurnick said.
