SWEDESBORO, N.J., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul is
putting its adaptive reuse practices to use by transforming an
existing property in the Pureland Industrial Complex of
Logan Township into a full-service
rental and self-storage facility.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Swedesboro at 510 Heron Drive
currently offers truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and
U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers.
When the initial phase of construction is completed by year's
end, there will be 300 indoor self-storage units with
climate-control options available for rental. The building will
incorporate all of U-Haul Company's state-of-the-art security
features. While permanent self-storage units are being constructed,
customers are encouraged to utilize U-Box containers.
"I am excited that we finally have a company-owned location in
the Logan Township and
Swedesboro area," U-Haul Company
of Southern New Jersey president
Paul Kelly said. "This is one of the
fastest growing communities in New
Jersey, and we plan on helping the community move into the
future."

The recent acquisition of the Swedesboro facility was driven by U-Haul
Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports
infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon
footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the
amount of energy and resources required for new-construction
materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of
unused buildings.
By repurposing the Swedesboro
building, a U-Haul sustainability analysis determined that it is
preventing 179 tons of metal manufacturing and transportation from
being used; eliminating 8,746 tons of new concrete pours; keeping
9,083 tons of construction and demolition debris out of landfills;
and stopping 4,254,365 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions from
entering the atmosphere.
"This property is the largest industrial park east of the
Mississippi and second largest in the nation," Kelly said. "We are
excited to reuse the structure because it saves resources for
future generations."
U-Haul will look to hire locally as services expand at this
facility to support job growth within the Swedesboro community. When the store is fully
operational Kelly plans to employ more than eight Team Members.
