ALLENTOWN, Pa., Dec. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PPL has received a
perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index
(CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate
policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) workplace equality.
PPL earned the designation as a 2017 Best Place to Work for LGBT
Equality for its top marks in the annual Human Rights Campaign
Foundation's survey. The results reflect PPL's commitment to LGBT
workplace equality, with respect to tangible policies, benefits and
practices.
"We firmly believe that creating a culture of inclusion is the
best way to foster mutual respect and innovation in our workplace,"
said Bill Spence, chairman,
president and Chief Executive Officer. "We remain committed to
continuing our long-standing support of the LGBT community through
active participation in community organizations and equal benefits
for employees."
For the 2017 report, CEI rated major U.S. businesses, evaluating
their LGBT-related policies and practices, including
non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner
benefits, transgender-inclusive health-care benefits, competency
programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
"Each year PPL continues to raise the bar, and I am proud to be
a part of a progressive company committed to creating a respectful
and inclusive workplace for all its employees," said Donna Cruciani, founder and president of FUSE,
the company's business resource group dedicated to promoting
workplace equality and supporting the LGBT community.
PPL's score is five points higher in 2017 versus 2016 due in
large part to the company's commitment to supplier diversity and
charitable contributions that benefit the LGBT community.
