Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the appointment of
Mitch Breen to the role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In this
newly established role, Breen will be responsible for orchestrating
and managing all customer-facing initiatives and revenue channels,
including sales, strategic alliances and services. This appointment
comes at a time when Progress is expanding its reach in the digital
transformation market, announced in May, with new solutions,
partnerships and industry insights.
“We knew that as our company went through its own digital
transformation, organizing our customer-facing and
revenue-generating teams under one global leader was imperative,”
said Jerry Rulli, Chief Operating Officer, Progress. “Mitch Breen
understands the technology marketplace and has a strong track
record of growth at both large enterprise and start-up
organizations. We are confident that with Mitch at the helm of our
global revenue generating team, we’ll be able to accelerate our
growth and optimize cross-collaboration with the sense of urgency
that our vision for the business demands.”
Breen brings to the role executive sales and leadership
experience. Most recently, he held the role of Senior Vice
President, Global Customer Operations at Simplivity, where he drove
the pre-IPO startup to a billion dollar valuation within an
18-month period. Prior to that, Breen was Senior Vice President,
North American Sales for Oracle Corporation, and spent more than 26
years at EMC where he held a variety of sales leadership positions,
including Senior Vice President of the of America’s, Senior Vice
President of Global Mid-Range Storage, as well Senior Vice
President of EMC’s channels and alliances. He was also Chief of
Staff to the office of the Vice Chairman.
“Progress is at an exciting time in its evolution as we look to
the future and the importance of digital transformation. I wanted
to join Progress because of the potential before us to be market
leaders and because I have the utmost confidence in the executive
team to get us there,” said Mitch Breen. “Not only do I want to be
part of what is surely to be this company’s next big vertical leap,
but I want to lead the charge as we help our customers and partners
through their own digital transformation and move forward.”
With a focus on go-to-market strategic alignment, Progress
sought a leader with a unique skillset to centralize and
effectively manage the digital transformation growth engine. Breen
has built successful go-to-market teams worldwide. In doing so he
overtook entrenched competitors to attain and regain leadership
positioning. Over the course of his career, Breen has championed
acquisitions, established channels and alliances programs,
rebranded and repositioned products, all the while driving
cross-functional collaboration. In his new role, Breen will report
directly to Jerry Rulli, Chief Operating Officer.
