BERLIN--Ford of Europe sales in January outpaced the broader
automotive industry, rising 7.7% in the top European markets,
including struggling Russia and Turkey, from a year earlier, the
company said on Thursday.
"Our investment in new product and technologies is really paying
off, and we will see much more to come on this front in what will
be one of the busiest years ever for Ford in terms of new vehicle
introductions in Europe," said Roelant de Waard, vice president,
marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe.
Ford sales in the top 22 European markets rose by 6,800 vehicles
to 95,400 vehicles in January, helping the company boost its market
share to 7.4%. New car sales in the broader automotive industry
rose 1.9% to 1.3 million vehicles in January. Excluding Russia and
Turkey, Ford sales in the top 20 European markets rose 9.8% to
88,700 vehicles.
In the broader Euro 50 group, which includes Eastern Europe and
some Eurasian countries, Ford sales rose 7.1% to 97,200
vehicles.
