Frontier Communications Achieves Highest Standard of Ethernet Services Certification

Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:FTR) today
announced the successful completion of the Metro Ethernet Forum
(MEF) 2.0 certification for its Carrier Grade Ethernet portfolio
“Frontier Ethernet Solutions.” Frontier’s professional staff
includes 18 MEF-CECP (Carrier Ethernet Certified Professionals), 15
of whom are MEF-CECP 2.0 certified.
MEF certification allows each provider to differentiate their
level of service and offerings from one carrier to the next. The
MEF-CECP certification is the industry’s first vendor-neutral
certification program and designates that the network services
provider has key competency and skills to design, market, deploy
and support Carrier Ethernet equipment, networks and services
representing the next-generation of telecommunications technology.
Frontier’s CE 2.0 Services certification process included rigorous
testing for each type of standardized Ethernet service (E-Line,
E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access) and encompassed more than 600 test
cases.
According to MEF Board member Raghu Ranganathan of Ciena, “A CE
2.0 certified compliant implementation will also enable faster and
consistent rollout of MEF services. Over the last 10 years, the MEF
has been key in generating industry consensus in a comprehensive
set of services (think E-Line, E-LAN and E-Tree) that are in high
demand, and benefit from standardized definitions. Customers can
order them confidently, and operators know what they are expected
to deliver. Service procurement is far less complex and time to
service activation is minimized.”
“As a leading provider of broadband, ethernet, voice, video,
wireless and Internet access across 28 states, this highly regarded
certification gives Frontier the ability to craft Carrier Grade
Ethernet solutions that leverage industry standards and are
tailored to a customer’s unique business needs,” said Todd Wells,
Senior Vice President of Revenue Strategy for Frontier.
Frontier intends to expand its Frontier Ethernet Solutions
offerings by introducing capabilities such as Multi-CoS, an SLA
portal and 10 Gigabit aggregation hubs where customers can purchase
applications with complete assurance as to service and
performance.
“We’re proud of this achievement and excited about the very
positive reception to our latest offering, E-Reach, which extends
Carrier Grade Ethernet Services outside of our franchise,” said
Wells. “Metro Ethernet is a scalable and productive way to increase
network flexibility and performance. This certification
demonstrates that Frontier has the in-house expertise to offer
customers a great quality of service in 2015 and beyond.”
