SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Tech stocks wavered in Wednesday
morning trade as the sector showed signs of weakness following
early opening gains.
Among leading tech stocks, Apple Inc. (AAPL) was flat at $98.70,
Netflix Inc. (NFLX) shed 84 cents a share to $455.41, LinkedIn
Corp. (LNKD) slipped by $3.53 to $200.74 a share and
Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) was off by 3 cents a share at $35.19.
Mild gains came from eBay Inc. (EBAY), Twitter Inc. (TWTR), IBM
Corp. (IBM) and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT).
Security software company Symantec Corp. (SYMC) rose 27 cents a
share to $23.46. A report in Bloomberg News said Symantec is
considering splitting into two companies, with one focused on
security programs and one on data storage business offerings.
The Nasdaq Composite Index (RIXF) was down by 5 points at 4,379
and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) was also in the
red.
