E-Waste Systems, Inc. Announces Participation to Local E-Waste
Collection Events
Events in May and June to Bring Over 200,000 Pounds of Discarded
Electronics to Facilities in Cincinnati and Geneva
CINCINNATI, OH and GENEVA, NY and LONDON, UNITED
KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2014) - E-Waste Systems, Inc.
(OTCQB: EWSI) ("EWSI," "EWS," "eWaste Systems," or the "Company"),
an electronic waste management, environmentally focused services
and technology company, held an electronics collection event
sponsored by Cayuga County SWM, NY.
On Saturday May 31st from 9am to 2pm
15 employees from the EWS-CG facility in Geneva collected over
100,000 pounds of old electronics brought by around 750 cars
queuing at The BOCES Campus in Auburn, NY. Figures of the
day include 120 pallets and 5 almost full tractor trailers. Once
again residents showed great participation and appreciated the
opportunity to drop their obsolete items rather than paying a fee
for the collection.
"The network established with the local communities and
authorities is beginning to create a virtuous relation, sign of our
strong presence on the territory for a sustainable solution of the
discarded electronics," commented Julie Peterson, President of the
eWaste Division at E-Waste Systems. "These events are becoming
popular, a result of a constant awareness campaign that we are
supporting for the responsible recycling of e-waste. It is not only
a Company's mission but a personal belief that everyone at E-Waste
Systems shares for a sustainable tomorrow and a better future for
the next generations."
On May 16th and 17th the discarded electronics drive sponsored
by Toyota and open to all Toyota's employees and Scott County, KY
residents saw the participation of EWS-CG that within two days of
the event collected over 37,000 pounds of e-waste to be processed
in the Cincinnati facility. Earlier in April E-Waste Systems also
participated at another event with Ohio Valley Goodwill at the
Earth Day Celebration collecting over 80,000 pounds of e-waste.
Next in the event list is a recycling drive sponsored by the
Immaculate Conception Church in LaGrange, KY to collect unwanted
electronics waste from the local community on Saturday, June
28, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parish parking lot at
502 N 5th St., LaGrange KY 40031. All
electronics collected will then be recycled by EWS-CG at the
Cincinnati facility. Data storage devices will be sanitized
according to NIST SP 800-88 standards. Aside from helping the
environment the drive will be helping support the work of Catholic
Charities of Louisville.
"The demands for a proper recycling solution for e-waste is
becoming greater than ever due to restrictions introduced by many
states," added Ms. Peterson. "Unfortunately with new regulations
comes confusion on how to properly dispose unwanted items. We are
currently working to change all of that through the dense relations
we are building locally and that will eventually be integrated into
the E-Waste Systems network as part of the global strategy for a
sustainable solution to the forthcoming electronics disposal
global issue."
Acceptable items to be donated at the event include cables,
CD-ROM drives, cellular phones, circuit boards, computer speakers,
CPUs, CRT monitors, docking stations, DVD players, fax machines,
hard drives, keyboards, laptops, LCD monitors, mainframes, mice,
microwaves, modems, PDAs, personal copiers, printers, processor
chips, scanners, servers, speakers, tape and disc drives,
telephones, televisions, terminals, and VCR players.
