TROY, Mich., April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair, a global
provider of computer-aided engineering (CAE) and high-performance
computing (HPC) software and services, today announced that Tower
International (NYSE: TOWR), a leading global automotive
manufacturer, has selected Altair's Compute Manager to simplify and
streamline access to distributed resources.
Compute Manager is a Web-based application for accessing
computing resources from any location. With Compute Manager's easy
to use interface, users can set up jobs on remote HPC systems,
access geographically distributed applications and data, manage and
monitor workloads, and visualize results remotely from virtually
any Internet-enabled device.
"Tower International is a respected leader in a competitive
industry, so they understand the importance of choosing new
technologies that will improve the return on investment for their
existing HPC systems," said Sam
Mahalingam, CTO for Enterprise Computing at Altair. "Compute
Manager simplifies the process of managing application workload on
remote resources, so Tower's engineers can easily perform
simulations using various solvers on the HPC system, and visualize
results, without having to deal with complicated command line
interfaces or network bandwidth and latency issues."
A leading manufacturer of engineered automotive structural
components and assemblies, Tower initially implemented Altair's PBS
Professional for workload management on their HPC cluster to help
reduce computation times for highly complex CAE simulation
applications like Altair RADIOSS and OptiStruct. Tower then added
Compute Manager to this environment, implementing the solution from
bare metal to a fully operational environment within two weeks.
"With Compute Manager it's much easier for our engineers to
manage simulation jobs and data," said Pankaj Garg, Information Technology Manager at
Tower International. "Compute Manager is a key enhancement to our
PBS Works environment, ensuring we extract more value from all our
software investments while helping our users to be more efficient
and productive."
