CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Organic Plant
Health, Inc. (OTCQB: OPHI), a manufacturer and distributor of
organic-based, hybrid and environmentally responsible fertilizers,
soil conditioners and pest controls, is pleased to provide an
update on industry growth and the company's activities.
According to a study conducted by marketresearch.com,
organic-based fertilizer products presently represent a small share
of the $9 billion consumer
packaged lawn and garden market in the U.S., roughly 10%, or
$900 million. Since 2007 organic
fertilizers and growing media revenues have grown at over 10%
annually, which is greater than twice the average rate for the lawn
and garden category of about 4% over the same time periods. Demand
for these organic- based products has increased as consumers are
generally becoming more aware of the environment and the negative
effects from using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, such as
contamination of waterways attributed to chemical fertilizers. The
same study notes that baby-boomers are just coming in to their
prime gardening years, and this will support continued growth in
the sector for the foreseeable future. Organic Plant Health
is poised to take advantage of this growth rate in this industry as
it begins to expand product distribution along the east coast.
As part of the company's mission to "Change the Way America
Grows", Billy Styles, company
President and CEO, spends a lot of his time in meetings with
diverse audiences. These include homeowners, commercial
businesses, home owner associations, garden clubs, garden centers,
plant nurseries and other businesses or associations interested in
learning more about creating healthy, beautiful landscapes with
less impact on the environment.
What does Billy do at all of these meetings? He
talks. He talks about the universal "Mrs. Johnson" and the
challenges she faces in her backyard, and how a more sustainable,
earth-friendly approach to landscape care will serve her better on
multiple levels. Billy explains, "There is so much
misinformation and half-truths circulating in the public that it's
hard for a regular consumer to know what to believe and what their
expectations should be when it comes to taking care of their lawns,
landscapes and gardens." When speaking to a group of several
hundred employees of Premier Healthcare Alliance outside of
Charlotte, NC, Styles continued,
"There are so many factors that affect plant health, such as soil
compaction, pH level, sunlight, watering Ð too much or too little
of any of these can change the way plants grow and adversely affect
their health. Subtle changes with any of these factors can
create vastly different results. No one approach fits every
landscape." At Organic Plant Health, our products are
developed to improve and support soil health while also providing
appropriate plant fertility. This improves success rates in
all manner of growing environments.
As the months and years roll ahead of us, Organic Plant Health
plans to reinforce the delivery of its message to "Change the
Way America Grows." The company is currently working on a new
video series for its YouTube library that addresses more of the
issues "Mrs. Johnson" faces on a daily basis. These videos
will be targeted at the everyday gardener that needs more
information than he or she can get at the big box stores.
Styles goes on to say, "Day in and day out, this is all part of
Organic Plant Health's master plan to change the way we grow in the
backyards of America. At the same time we will be creating
awareness for OPH products, and for the importance of healthy soil
and the role it plays in overall plant health. I believe this
stepped-up awareness will benefit the company in a variety of ways
and increase the value of our company for its shareholders."
