ZBB Energy Corporation (NYSE AMEX: ZBB) announced today that it has received an order for a ZESS energy system which consists of, three (3) ZESS 50, zinc bromide flow batteries and the ZESS power and energy control center (“PECC”) from NIDON Clean Energy (NIDON), a division of NIDON Computer Corporation. The ZESS energy system provides an integrated, scalable, modular, intelligent storage solution. NIDON is a renewable energy design and integration company based in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The ZESS energy storage systems will be used as part of a new state of the art elevator system that utilizes power from the grid and renewable energy in “Pualani Manor,” a mid rise, multi-family apartment located near downtown Honolulu. This system will manage the energy usage from a 20kW PV array and allows the elevator to be operated during emergency situations and extended power outages. The scalability of the ZESS system enables future input and storage from other renewable energy sources.

Mr. Nick Dizon, owner, founder and President of NIDON, stated, “This system will illustrate the state of the art possibilities for grid connected renewable power applications. The deep discharge capabilities of ZBB’s advanced energy storage and power control technology provide a giant leap forward for both off-grid and on-grid renewable energy utilization while substantially reducing CO2 emissions (greenhouse gas). The unique benefits of ZBB’s integrated energy storage platform, allows a seamless supply of stored energy to be provided to this new grid independent elevator system.”

ZBB’s Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Kevin Dennis said, “We are delighted to be teaming with NIDON on this elevator project. NIDON selected the ZESS system because it is intelligent, scalable and cannot only, time shift renewable energy but can also act as a backup for key electrical systems. We recognize NIDON’s experience and expertise as leader in renewable energy systems engineering, design and integration. The NIDON installation, demonstrates how the ZESS system can offer turn-key storage solutions in multiple market segments.”
