Linde PLC said it has struck a long-term agreement with semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG for the on-site production and storage of green hydrogen, as well as the supply of other industrial gases.

The industrial gases and engineering company on Wednesday said the supply marks the first time green hydrogen is used in Infineon's semiconductor-manufacturing process.

The company said it will build a two-megawatt electrolyzer plant at Infineon's Villach site in Austria. It said it will also build a compact air-separation unit at the Villach site. Linde said it expects the facilities to start up in 2022.
