Aladdin eToken Supports OATH OTP Standard DENVER, Oct. 27
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Digital ID World -- Aladdin Knowledge
Systems, Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALDN) today announced that its eToken user
authentication key now supports the One-Time Password (OTP)
Algorithm submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
by the initiative for Open AuTHentication (OATH). OATH is an
industry initiative with the mission to drive the ubiquity of
strong authentication across all networks, applications and
devices. (Logo:

Yesterday, OATH member companies endorsed the submission of a new
algorithm for the generation OTPs. Aladdin eToken now supports this
new algorithm and illustrates Aladdin's commitment to the
establishment of this important framework. More information on the
OTP algorithm can be found at:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-mraihi-oath-hmac-otp-01.txt
. Any hardware manufacturer or software developer can implement
HOTP to create interoperable authentication devices and software
agents. Unlike existing OTP solutions that are time-based, OATH's
algorithm is based on a counter. Therefore, it can be easily
embedded in devices such as USB dongles, Java smart cards and GSM
SIM cards. The counter-based design also significantly reduces the
burden on enterprises adopting OTP solutions. "One of the major
obstacles in implementing strong authentication technology is the
lack of unified standards. Supporting the OATH OTP algorithm is key
to enabling the implementation of flexible, strong user
authentication by enterprise customers," said Leedor Agam, vice
president of the eToken Business Unit at Aladdin Knowledge Systems.
"Aladdin is fully committed to supporting OATH and its industry
mission." About the Initiative for Open AuTHentication The
Initiative for Open AuTHentication (OATH) is a collaboration of
leading device, platform and application companies. OATH
participants hope to foster use of strong authentication across
networks, devices and applications. OATH participants work
collectively to facilitate standards work and build a reference
architecture for open authentication while evangelizing the
benefits of strong interoperable authentication in a networked
world. OATH is actively seeking all participants who share a common
vision of open authentication. To learn how to participate, email
or visit http://www.openauthentication.org/ . About Aladdin eToken
