Good numbers yesterday. Beat on Revenues and Earnings.

Sure enjoying my free Shares from the DELL spinoff on November 2nd.

I work with Fortune 500 companies. They have been decommissioning VMware for the past 5 years in record pace. VMware VDI will be decimated by MS Azure partner Nerdio.

Good morning NYCP,

VMW sort of flat lined in my account with reasonable profits at $152 and change. I exited on Oct 16th of 2020. As it has turned out that wasn't a bad move.

Thanks for the note and ideas about the two competitors. I'll have to "study up" on those.

I've noticed VM Ware is starting to do Network TV advertising. I don't think I'd seen any such ads up until this last week.

It can't hurt awareness.

Another nice upward move this AM for VMW.

It appears Dell is looking at VMW as a potential sale to reduce its debt load. Details in a WSJ article:

Sold 10% of my VMW position this AM at $155. It raised the cash reserve to an acceptable level after going to zero back in mid March with my last addition. Overall the position is up 23% since starting it at the end of February, 2020. Price/share is up 22% since the start.

Today I had a fill on an order to sell 5% of my VMW position at $134.30.
That works out to be a LIFO gain of about 36% in just a couple of weeks. I
started this position at the end of Feb (a bit too early) at $127.21.

I'm just trading around the core position at this point. Since I started it
with minimum cash held in reserve, the sale is timely and comes with
profits. I hold this in my IRA.

I added 12% to my VMW position yesterday at $98.39. This is a relatively new position for me.

Vmware Inc $VMW Keeps Dropping, Watch This Trade Level

VMware Inc (NYSE:VMW) is a leading cloud software stock that has been declining since mid-May 2019. The stock topped out on May 16, 2019 at $206.79 a share. Since that high pivot, the shares have declined lower by 21.0% and are now trading at $162.98 a share. Traders and investors should now watch the $150.00 area as major chart support. This level was where the stock broke out of a one month base in early February 2019. Often, when a stock declines into a past breakout level it will usually be defended by the institutional money when it initially hits the support area. I will now be watching VMW for a potential long side trade when the stock trades down into this level.

Keep This Level On The Radar for VMware $VMW

VMware Inc (NYSE:VMW) is a leading cloud computing software stock that has been under pressure recently. The stock topped out on May 16, 2019 at $206.79 a share. Since that high pivot, the stock has declined sharply and is now trading at $168.02 a share. Over the past four trading sessions the stock has been forming a bearish daily chart base above its important 200-day moving average. A weekly close below the 200-day moving average will likely cause another leg lower in the stock. Traders should note that the stock has major support around the $150.00 level. This important support area is a major retrace level and also a level where the stock broke out in February 2019. Very often, stocks will be defended at their prior break-out levels.

$VMW Running out of steam in May, can earnings help?

It has been a fantastic year so far for NYSE:VMW as the cloud kings have been the focus of investors money, but just how strong are investors resolve if things turn south for Vmware?. there is no doubt the company has a unrivalled client list with MSFT , AMZN ,DELL, IBM & BABA among its cloud integration customers. Furthur new products will have likely increased their customer base in the quarter, thus earnings are going to be good, but this is not time to be entering into a long position , in a weak market. Better entries will be available as the stock needs a pullback.
If the stock breaks out $207-$208 is a good alert level.

Pertino Jumps On The "Networking For Docker" Stage

Considering the amazing uptake that Docker has received since its inception, it is understandable to think that every possible issue related to the project has been solved. But when one reflects upon the fact that Docker is only a year or so old, it stands to reason that some holes exist. A couple of the most obvious examples of this relate to networking and storage within the Docker construct.

The former problem, networking, has had a bit of attention of late. New startup Weave launched to try and solve this problem and today networking vendor Pertino is announcing plans to resolve some issues also.

Pertino is a vendor that enables organizations to build a private cloud network that sits on top of the public Internet. It’s a captivating idea – leverage the existing network, but overlay it with virtual security and isolation – the best of both worlds some would suggest. Bringing the cost and agility profile of SDN, alongside the security and robustness of private networks.

The company is today extending its proposition to Docker and is announcing Pertino for Docker, a network stack software that extends the Pertino Cloud Network Engine to Docker. With Pertino for Docker, which is available on Docker Hub, organizations can build container-level Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networks to securely connect Dockerized distributed apps across any number of private or public clouds, anywhere. Pertino has also joined the Docker Technology Partner program to further collaborate with Docker on networking.

The SDN controller within the Cloud Network Engine platform automatically handles all host, IP addressing, DNS and security relationships while the distributed data plane functions as a virtual LAN switch in the cloud to connect app containers on a secure virtual network.


The interesting thing about this is that Pertino is offering a compelling answer to the “are containers or VMs the best way forwards?”. Formerly the worlds of virtual machines and Docker containers were somewhat separate – true VMware has been talking a “Docker on top of VMs” story for awhile, but this is the first time that a networking-specific vendor embraces Docker and VMs across the same offering. This will be a compelling proposition for organizations looking to use both technology approaches within their architectures.

Catch This Cloud Stock Before Its Next Big Ascent
VMW staged a high-volume breakout with a strong MACD buy signal

VMware (VMW) — This subsidiary of EMC Corp. (EMC) is a leading supplier of virtualization software. According to S&P, it is well positioned to leverage its dominance in the server virtualization market and should benefit from an economic uptick in emerging markets.

Last week, the company reported Q2 earnings of $0.55 per share, which was in line with estimates. Revenues increased 17.2% to 1.46 billion, which was at the upper end of management’s guided range. Full-year earnings are estimated to increase to $3.52 per share in 2014, up from $3.37 in 2013, and $4.22 in 2015. Analysts’ mean target is $110.66.

I last recommended VMW on March 12, when it was trading at $103.68, with a target of $115. The stock topped just under $113 in early April, and then fell under $95. It consolidated in a rectangle with support at its 200-day moving average until Wednesday, when it staged a high-volume breakout with a strong MACD buy signal.

Buy VMW at $100 with a trading target of $115. Long-term investors may want to buy shares at the market for long-term participation in the hybrid cloud sector.

I think one of the problems with VMW stock appreciating more is that cloud computing is not easily or readily understood by the average investor. As time goes by, that will change.
