Sentiment Seen Shifting From Inflation to Growth Concerns

0824 GMT - Sentiment has shifted from worrying about inflation to worrying about recession, as a result of which rates have stabilized and risk assets are seeing an accelerated sell-off, says Chris Iggo, chief investment officer for core investments at AXA Investment Managers. "Interest rate and inflation markets are taking the view that what is priced in terms of monetary tightening will be enough to bring inflation down but in order for that to happen, there also needs to be a cost to growth," he writes in a note. It is not showing up to a great extent in current economic data, but the risk is that growth is slowing rapidly, corporate earnings will fall and defaults will rise, he says. Market Talk:

Oxford BioMedica Deal Extension Could Support Revenue

0836 GMT - Oxford BioMedica extension of AstraZeneca's vaccine collaboration for further three years doesn't have an immediate financial impact, but provides a path for generating revenue beyond 2022 and validates the U.K. gene-and-cell-therapy group's services, Liberum analyst Edward Thomason says in a research note. "This gives partial answers to one of the bear concerns for OXB, showing that OXB can deliver on high-quality adeno-viral vector manufacture and secure repeat work," Thomason adds. However, he notes incremental revenue guidance of GBP5 million under the original agreement results in a modest Ebitda improvement in 2022. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
