Preliminary data shows German consumer prices declined in
September for the third consecutive month, German statistics office
Destatis said Tuesday.
Consumer prices fell 0.2% on month and on year measured by
national standards. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal
had forecast that prices would remain flat by national standards
both month-on-month and year-on-year.
Consumer prices fell 0.4% on month and on year in EU-harmonized
standards, more than the 0.2% decline expected by economists polled
by The Wall Street Journal.
The final results for September will be released on Oct. 13.
