Kim Pagel To Make Directorial Debut for the
Animation Studio’s First Feature
Lani Pixels A/S, a cutting-edge 3D animation production company,
announced today that actors Jacob Tremblay, Christopher Lloyd,
Kenan Thompson and Mel Brooks have been confirmed as the leading
voices for the animation studio’s first full-length 3D animated
film. Kim Pagel, co-founder of Lani Pixels, will make his
directorial debut with the release of the film, expected in Fall
2019. Thomas Pagel, co-founder of Lani Pixels, is producing the
untitled 3D-animated feature, with Jason Mirch co-producing. Verité
Entertainment’s René Veilleux and Donald Roman Lopez are associate
producing. Lani Pixels is financing the project with Ominto, Inc.,
which recently acquired 40% of the leading animation development
firm.
Written by Kim, the still untitled feature follows Patrick and
Susan as they attempt to rescue their grandfather, Mr. Campbell,
from supernatural forces that have invaded his isolated island.
Guided by Jack, a charming Irish rogue, the siblings end up on a
dangerous journey filled with magic and mystery. Production and
additional casting are currently underway.
“It is an honor to be working with such a talented and dynamic
cast on this project,” said Kim Pagel, Founder and Co-CEO of Lani
Pixels. “While this has been a passion project of mine for many
years, the themes of family unity and courage in the face of
adversity are equally as important today as they were when we
started.”
"We founded Lani Pixels to tell exceptional stories and produce
animated feature films that resonate with an international
audience,” said Thomas Pagel, Founder and Co-CEO. “Thanks to
our world-class production team and our partners at Ominto, that
dream is becoming a reality. While this project is the culmination
of years of hard work, it is really just the beginning.”
Ominto, Inc. CEO, Michael Hansen, added, “In addition to the
development of animated marketing content for Ominto and our
Dubli.com brand, we are excited to partner with Kim and Thomas and
the Lani Pixels team in the production of this extraordinary family
film. Kim is a gifted creative visionary. He has created an
original ensemble of compelling characters and a captivating
narrative. We look forward to working with the Lani Pixels team to
bring this story to a worldwide audience.”
Jacob Tremblay starred in the Academy Award® Winning Room
alongside Brie Larson, and will appear next in Lionsgate’s Wonder
co-starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, and Xavier Dolan’s The
Death and Life of John F. Donovan, with Kit Harrington, Jessica
Chastain and Natalie Portman for eOne. He recently completed
production on Shane Black’s The Predator. Christopher Lloyd
is best known for his roles as Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Back to
the Future trilogy and most recently appeared in Zach Braff’s Going
in Style for Warner Bros. Kenan Thompson is a cast member of
NBC's “Saturday Night Live” and is currently in production on Dylan
Brown’s Amusement Park co-starring Mila Kunis, Jennifer Garner and
Matthew Broderick for Paramount Pictures. Legendary EGOT Winner
Brooks’ best-known films include The Producers, The Twelve
Chairs, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, and Robin
