UK consumer confidence index rose more than expected in February
In the UK, the consumer confidence index advanced to a level of -23.00 in February, compared to a reading of -28.00 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the index to record a rise to -27.00.
Euro-zone consumer confidence index rose more than anticipated in February
In the Euro-zone, the flash consumer confidence index rose to a level of -14.80 in February, compared to a level of -15.50 in the previous month. Markets were expecting the consumer confidence index to advance to -15.00.
US housing starts dropped in January
In the US, housing starts dropped 6.00% on a MoM basis in January, compared to a revised rise of 8.20% in the prior month.
US building permits climbed in January
In the US, building permits climbed 10.40% on a MoM basis in January, compared to a revised rise of 4.20% in the previous month.
US number of initial jobless claims unexpectedly climbed in the week ended 12 February 2021
In the US, the seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims recorded an unexpected rise to 861.00 K in the week ended 12 February 2021, compared to a revised level of 848.00 K in the prior week. Markets were anticipating the number of initial jobless claims to fall to 765.00 K.
