Leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes heralds the enormous
interest in the Government's NewBuy scheme which launched on 12th
March.
Around 20,000 potential homebuyers pre-registered their interest
on the company's website nationally for the scheme which brings the
return of the 95 per cent mortgages for buyers of new homes.
Reportedly the weekly registration rate is now hitting
1,500.
The driving force behind the interest in the scheme is the
dramatically reduced deposit needed to buy a new home, providing
creditworthy buyers with the best opportunity in five years to get
on the property ladder.
Would-be homebuyers are also being given a helping hand by DWH
with a helpline - 0844 815 6178 - in order to deal with the
increased level of interest.
It has also pledged that its network of mortgage advisers will
be available seven days a week so that NewBuy mortgage applicants
can get independent advice and a quick decision.
Alastair Parsons, Senior Sales Manager at David Wilson Mercia
said: "I would urge anyone interested to contact us as soon as
possible. We will explain how the new system will work and talk our
customers through the reduced deposit requirements.
"The key thing is that people will no longer need huge deposits
of up to 20 per cent.
"Even though house prices have fallen since 2007, not everyone
has been able to take advantage because of the hefty deposits which
lenders have been demanding ever since the credit crunch began.
"In practice that means that you could buy one of our new homes
with a deposit of GBP 9,000."
Speaking on the launch of the scheme, Prime Minster David
Cameron commented: "Strong families and stable communities are
built from good homes. That's why I want us to build more homes and
I want more people to have the chance to own their own home.
"We are acting today across the board to make this happen.
"It's a vital boost to the housing market, giving people good
affordable new homes and backing thousands of jobs in construction
in the process."
