Sandvik said Thursday that Sandvik Mining and Construction has been designated as preferred supplier for Rio Tinto's expansion of Pilbara iron ore capacity in Australia.

 
   MAIN FACTS:

-Rio Tinto Iron Ore has confirmed to proceed with Sandvik Mining and Construction as the preferred supplier of mobile machines for the iron ore capacity expansion to 283M tonnes per annum in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

-This capacity expansion project includes the delivery and commissioning of 9 Sandvik mobile machines before mid of 2013 at several port and mine sites in the Pilbara and several machines in the year thereafter.

-Sandvik reclaimers and stackers will contribute to increased Pilbara iron ore production capacities.
