                               AGM Trading Update

At the Company's Annual General Meeting to be held today in Newport, Gwent, the
Chairman, Sir Terry Matthews, will update shareholders as follows:

"Further to my statement in the Annual Report I am pleased to report that
Newport continues to make progress.

We are in advanced stages of negotiations with a major Network Equipment Vendor
and Tier-1 operator to supply the Session Border Controller components of the
Tier-1 operator's Next Generation Network. We have been verbally informed that
the Newport Networks 1460 Session Border Controller has been selected and we
continue to expect to receive the initial order before 30 June 2006. Revenue
from this order is expected to be recognisable as revenue in the second half of
2006.

We are also in negotiation with a number of other potential customers for our
Session Border Controller and remain optimistic that orders will be received and
revenues recognised from these negotiations during 2006. Overall 2006 revenues
are still expected to be significantly weighted towards the second half of the
year.

In addition, test results continue to achieve positive results. During recent
independent testing of VoIP call handling capabilities, the Newport 1460 SBC
achieved the industry's highest recorded performance figures. The 1460
successfully handled a signaling load of 880 sessions per second and over
195,000 simultaneous calls. This is equivalent to a very large VoIP interconnect
point for a Tier-1 service provider and this level of performance is
significantly greater than any of our competitors have achieved."
