Mr. Charles Carvill, Chairman of Kenmare Resources plc., today announced that
Mr. Tony McCluskey was co-opted to the Board of the company and that Mr. Donal
Kinsella was appointed Deputy Chairman.  Mr. Carvill also announced that Dr.
Alastair Brown, who is presently an alternate director of the company, will be
proposed to the shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting as a full
director.  Alastair Brown's responsibilities will include the assessment and
development of exploration opportunities and Tony McCluskey will be the
Finance Director.  

Alastair Brown joined Kenmare in 1986 and has extensive experience in geology
and mineral exploration. He holds a B.Sc. in geology (University of
Edinburgh), an M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration (University of Leicester) and a
DIC and Ph.D in Applied Geochemistry (Imperial College, University of London).
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.  

Tony McCluskey holds a B. Comm. and is a member of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants.  He worked with Deloitte & Touche for a number of years as a
manager and, after a period working overseas, joined Kenmare as Financial
Controller and Company Secretary in 1991.  

Donal Kinsella has been a director of Kenmare 1987.  He is Chairman of
Trimproof Limited and Irish Edible Oils Limited.  

Charles Carvill, Chairman, said that he welcomed the new appointments and was
