RE:                 PROGRESS REPORT FOR CHINGUETTI 4-2, OFFSHORE MAURITANIA


Dear Sir/Madam

Hardman Resources Ltd ("Hardman") provides the following progress report on
testing operations of the Chinguetti 4-2 well, offshore Mauritania.


Current Operation:                While preparing to run the first production test, mechanical problems
(at approx 08:00 hours WST        were encountered.  Operations to rectify the mechanical problems and
30/8/2002)                        complete the test are underway.


Progress:                         Run and Cement 9 5/8 inch (244 mm) casing to total depth.  Assemble and
(since last report 22/8/2002)     run test equipment in preparation to conduct the first of two production
                                  tests to be performed within the primary objective interval.

Note:                             A further progress report will be released by middle of next week on the status of
                                  operations, or when test results are available from the first production test.

Prospect Description:             Chinguetti 4-2 is located in PSC Area B.  The well is being drilled on
                                  the northern (upthrown) flank of the Chinguetti structure, approximately
                                  2.5 kilometres north of the Chinguetti-1 discovery well, which was
                                  located on the downthrown fault block.  This well is considered to be a
                                  significant step out from the discovery well and is evaluating a
                                  geologically separate portion of the prospect.  Total depth (TD) of the
                                  well is 2,655 metres (below rig floor).




Equity participation in the Chinguetti 4-2 well is as follows:

              Roc Oil (Mauritania) Company             2.4%
              ENI Agip British Borneo Ltd             35.0%
              Woodside Mauritania Pty Ltd             35.0%
