Water Consumption Plummets Following Use of TrackMoist(TM) at Gas City Speedway

In a development that could have far reaching consequences for dirt
track racing, the fans, drivers and operators of Gas City Speedway
in Indiana agree that something wonderful happened at the facility
last weekend -- it was the remarkable performance of a new dust
management solution and track dressing developed by Winning Brands
Corporation (PINKSHEETS: WNBD) (FRANKFURT: WMU)
www.WinningBrands.ca. In addition to suddenly improved track
performance, the use of water for track maintenance declined
dramatically.
Winning Brands today announced the appointment of Mr. Don
Williams as its Master Distributor and Product Specialist for
TrackMoist to race facilities in the USA. Williams had been active
in organizing TrackMoist trials and reports that the Gas City
experience was another eye opener. He will be responsible following
this appointment to create a training protocol that ensures
consistent satisfaction with the product's performance and organize
the product buy/sell structure for the USA. This will include
collaboration with regional and local representatives to achieve a
wide reach for TrackMoist. Williams' background spans over 28 years
of motorsports racing experience in series such as IMSA, CART,
Champ Car, and the IRL. He has focused his career on the
development of business and sponsor relationships in the
motorsports industry.
In Q3 of 2008, Winning Brands announced a sampling program of
its proprietary TrackMoist solution to race tracks in order to
reduce the huge volume of water used in conventional dust
suppression and track dressing. There are more dirt race tracks in
America than paved. With the samples having been distributed in the
off-season, they were on-hand for the start of the 2009 season and
have delivered unequivocal results in 2009; track managers love
it.
Williams recounts the positive findings at Gas City Speedway
this way in a report extract; "I arrived at the Speedway Saturday
morning to work closely with the grooming team because they were
being exposed to TrackMoist for the first time. The day was sunny,
80 degrees and wind blowing strong at 50 miles per hour. The track
had already been wetted with straight water prior to my arrival.
Following normal procedure, I performed a spike test on the wet
surface and found that the spike could penetrate the earth by 6".
But with the wind blowing as strong as it was, the track had
already begun drying out despite 9,000 gallons having been used on
the previous run. Within about an hour, the spike only penetrated 3
inches. It was clear that the track, being primarily clay based,
was not going to cooperate using traditional methods. Following the
lunch break, Gas City prepared to use Track Moist instead with only
about 2,000 gallons of water to be applied to the track. After two
hours, with sun still shinning and the wind blowing, the track
remained wet looking, the spike test revealed that moisture was
still about 6" deep and the spike penetrated the soil easily.
Furthermore, when the grooming team walked on the track, their feet
still felt sticky on the surface, showing that the earth had
retained grip. The track was further mechanically groomed according
to their methods. A late afternoon shower did not cause excess
wetness. Instead, the track had improved absorption. That evening a
great experience for spectators and drivers alike arose when three
racing grooves emerged instead of the usual 2. This does not
normally happen on a 1/3rd mile oval under these conditions.
Drivers commented that the track was still offering grip even after
the surface had become hard (rather than going slick.) Drivers felt
that the longer they raced, the better the surface was getting.
TrackMoist made a real difference to performance while reducing
water consumption by far more than half."
Gas City was not the only success story last weekend. Winning
Brands Senior Vice President Lorne Kelly reports that the company
is fielding more calls now. "Track groomers from another Indiana
track need to 'stock up' for the 2009 season. Another call, from
Illinois where TrackMoist was used this year is keen to use it for
the balance of the year and seeking a discussion about the
associated business opportunities. Don Williams too has been
receiving enquiries from elsewhere in the country to process.
TrackMoist is going commercial in the USA now," Kelly remarks.
TrackMoist is a solution that is mixed with water to be sprayed
where dust control consumes large quantities of water, such as the
nation's thousands of dirt race tracks. The effect of adding
Winning Brands' TrackMoist(TM) has been found to substantially
reduce water consumption, time used by track grooming personnel,
gasoline and frequency of water truck use, with associated
reduction in the carbon footprint of the process. There are also
associated cost benefits for municipal water treatment systems that
are drawn upon for water used on tracks. Reduction in large scale
water consumption is recognized as a key environmental objective
globally. Situations which can deliver vast savings at high volume
sites are particularly desirable. Use of TrackMoist by the several
thousand dirt tracks in the USA, where car racing, motocross and
kart racing thrive, is estimated by Winning Brands to be worth
several million dollars annually in eventual TrackMoist sales while
delivering tens of millions of dollars of cost savings to its
customers. Winning Brands CEO Eric Lehner points out that the
company would like to focus on this particular use of TrackMoist
first, rather than all dust suppression applications at once, in
order to develop its product expertise, build its team of
specialists and document their experiences for the benefit of
addressing the additional target sectors in the future
professionally.
Winning Brands Corporation manufactures a range of advanced
solutions which are making news for their performance
characteristics while retaining a profile of being environmentally
preferable to the methods they replace. TrackMoist(TM) is
manufactured in the Ontario, Canada facilities of Niagara Mist
Marketing Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Winning Brands
Corporation. Other products from Winning Brands include Winning
Colours Stain Remover, KIND Laundry Products, CLEAN1 All Purpose
and SMART Wet Cleaning Solutions.
