Visa Inc. named Michelle Gethers-Clark as its chief diversity
officer and head of corporate responsibility, a role that will
report to Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Al Kelly.
Ms. Gethers-Clark will also be a part of the company's executive
committee, Visa said. She will join the company in May.
She will help lead the company's diversity and inclusion
efforts, as well as its work around social impact and
sustainability, the company said.
Ms. Gethers-Clark most recently served as the president and CEO
of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, N.C., a nonprofit focused
on ending poverty. She has led the organization's fundraising and
distribution efforts for its social impact programs.
Prior to that, she held several senior roles at Visa rival
American Express Co., including as senior vice president and
general manager of card operations. She also helped the financial
services company with its social impact initiatives and its
American Express Black Employee Network.
