Black Friday, the traditional start of the holiday shopping season, gives way to Pink on Nov. 27 as CompUSA turns the shopping frenzy into a charitable free-for-all for the second consecutive year. The consumer electronics and technology retailer expects Pink Friday to help raise more than $100,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest breast cancer organization.

Customers can get involved in the following ways:

  • Customers can donate $1, $5, $10 or $20, on top of their in-store or on-site purchase to Komen for the Cure.
  • A live 12-hour Webcast will be available on www.CompUSA.com, from noon to midnight. During the live webcast, limited quantities of products will be sold at 50 percent off list price. The full proceeds from the sales will go directly to Komen. Sponsors of the Webcast include Intel, AMD, Lenovo, Logitech, I-INC, Canon, CA, Toshiba, TRENDnet, Garmin, Targus, Ultra, Samsung and Sony.

“Pink Friday reminds us that the holiday season is all about giving,” said Gilbert Fiorentino, Chief Executive of Systemax Technology Products Group, which includes CompUSA. “Together, we and our customers will make a tremendous impact on Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s promise to end breast cancer.”

“We are so grateful for CompUSA’s dedication to our promise,” said Katrina McGhee, vice president of global partnerships at Komen for the Cure. “Pink Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year and this program allows a huge audience to become engaged with our cause.”

The 12-hour Webcast will feature breast cancer survivor interviews, informational videos and the sale of hundreds of products at 50 percent off, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to Komen. The products go “live” at different times during the Webcast and are sold to the first people who call in. The online products being offered at 50 percent off will not be available in stores, but in celebration of Pink Friday, all of CompUSA’s 28 retail locations throughout the country and in Puerto Rico will go “pink” with décor, bags, in-store donations and more.
