New MaxPerks for Teachers Bonus Program Designed to Minimize Teacher Spend on School Supplies NAPERVILLE, Ill., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax(R) (NYSE:OMX), a leading provider of office equipment and services, today announced that teachers throughout America can earn an extra $500 for their classrooms just by doing what they've done for generations -- preparing back-to-school shopping lists for their students. With OfficeMax's new Back-to-School Bonus program, educators who enroll in MaxPerks(SM) for Teachers can earn additional financial rewards from now through September 30, 2007. "According to Adopt-A-Classroom*, teachers in America today spend an average of $1,400 a year out of their own pockets for classroom supplies -- about $4 billion that's not funded by the education system," said Ryan Vero, executive vice president of marketing and chief merchandising officer for OfficeMax. "Teachers make a substantial financial sacrifice to create meaningful learning environments. We designed our Back-to-School Bonus program to show our ongoing support to help teachers achieve their lesson plan goals and to alleviate some of the financial burden." It's easy for teachers to take advantage of the OfficeMax Back-to-School Bonus program. Teachers simply enroll in MaxPerks for Teachers at http://www.officemax.com/maxperks, create a back-to-school shopping list for their students, and then distribute the list to students and their parents by email or by handing out printed copies. More than 5,000 teachers have already signed up for the new Back-to-School Bonus program, Vero said. At the MaxPerks web site, teachers may create customized back-to-school shopping lists of supplies that their students will need for the upcoming school year. The list will include a special MaxPerks ID number that ensures teachers get the appropriate credit for all qualifying purchases. If teachers don't want to create a list through the MaxPerks web site, they can still take advantage of the Back-to-School Bonus program by issuing students a special MaxPerks ID number to earn credit for whatever purchases they make. During the Back-to-School Bonus program, teachers can make up to $500 by earning $10 for every $100 of their students' qualified purchases through September 30. In addition, as a MaxPerks member, teachers will still earn $10 in regular rewards for every $75 they spend in qualified purchases. Rewards are issued in the form of a stored value card. What's more, teachers can realize significant savings with in-store discounts during OfficeMax's Educator Appreciation Days, Aug. 2-4 and Aug. 23-25. Please check with your local store for specific event days. *Adopt-A-Classroom is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to increasing opportunities for student success by empowering teachers with community partners and funds to purchase resources for the classroom.
