Shareholder Rights Law Firm Johnson & Weaver, LLP is
investigating potential violations of the federal securities laws
by Jumei International Holding Limited (NYSE: JMEI) and certain of
its officers. Jumei operates as an online retailer of beauty
products in the Peoples Republic of China.
Specifically, Johnson & Weaver’s investigation seeks to
determine whether certain statements regarding Jumei’s business,
prospects and its suppliers were false and misleading when
made.
On May 16, 2014, Jumei stock opened for trading at $27.25, the
day the Company sold 11.1 million shares of stock in its initial
public stock offering (the “IPO”), reaching a high of $28.28 per
share that day. However, just months after its IPO, Jumei reported
disappointing third-quarter earnings for the period
ended September 30, 2014. Total gross merchandise value (GMV)
grew by only 31.4% from a year ago to $273 million, the
slowest year-on-year growth on record. After reaching a high of $34
in late August, Jumei stock has collapsed, closing at $15.08 on
Tuesday, December 9, 2014.
