HSC Harsco Corporation

Harsco Corporation (HSC) entered into a strategic alliance with Irex Contracting Group for providing services to the industrial and infrastructure sector projects throughout North America.

Lancaster, PA-based Irex is an operator of associated companies providing specialized services such as installation and maintenance of mechanical insulation and environmental services for buildings, manufacturing facilities and plants.

With the help of Irex’s position in specialty contracting services and Harsco's Infrastructure, both companies intend to establish a new one-stop capability in North America. The company’s Infrastructure segment will provide scaffolding and labor services.

Last month, Harsco secured a renewal contract from Network Rail for an estimated value of $50 million. This is a renewal contract with an extended tenure of four years.

The company’s Rail segment will continue to provide railway switch grinding services to Network Rail in the UK rail system.  These services include re-profiling of railhead contours, which enhances rail life and smoothes operation. Consequently, there is a decline in fuel consumption, while noise diminishes and operating costs are also reduced.

Harsco also received a railway track maintenance and related equipment contract from Saudi Arabia for $15 million. Deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Under the agreement, the company will support the Kingdom's new North-South Railway system project of constructing rail line in Saudi Arabia.

Management expects that this project will enhance opportunities for the Harsco Infrastructure group operating in Saudi Arabia. It will also encourage new customer relationships and provide market opportunities for Harsco Rail.
