Gene Cavallucci Named VP-General Counsel of Harris Corporation; Company Promotes Three in Legal Department MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has named Gene Cavallucci, 57, as vice president-general counsel. He succeeds Richard L. Ballantyne, 64, who will retire from Harris at the end of the year. Cavallucci had been serving as vice president-counsel with responsibility for legal affairs in Harris' Government Communications Systems and RF Communications divisions. The company also promoted Scott T. Mikuen, 42, to vice president-associate general counsel and corporate secretary; and John D. Gronda, 48, to vice president-counsel and director of business conduct. "Gene has great legal instincts and a proven track record in the complex world of government procurement law, and business ethics and compliance," said Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "He will be an outstanding general counsel. During the past 15 years, Dick Ballantyne has built a very strong and effective legal organization at Harris, and we are delighted to fill three key legal positions from within the company. In addition to his recent responsibilities as vice president-counsel for the company's government- related businesses, he also served as director of business conduct for Harris. He earned a B.A. degree in Labor Management Relations from Penn State University and a law degree from Penn State's Dickinson School of Law. He also earned a master's of law degree in Government Procurement Law from George Washington University Law Center. Prior to joining Harris, he served as vice president-general counsel and secretary for DBA Systems, Inc. in Melbourne, Florida. Previously, he was a partner in a Melbourne law firm and served in the U.S. Air Force as a judge advocate. Mikuen joined Harris in 1996 and was most recently vice president-counsel with responsibility for Harris' corporate and commercial division legal affairs. He also served as assistant secretary to the board of directors. In his current position, he will continue to be responsible for legal issues related to securities, mergers and acquisitions, finance, and transaction matters. He earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from Colgate University and a law degree from the Harvard Law School. Prior to joining Harris, he served as a partner in a Long Island, New York, law firm. Gronda joined Harris in 1999 and has been responsible for legal matters related to labor, employment, and employee benefits. He earned a B.B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to joining Harris, he served as a partner in a Miami, Florida, law firm.
