New Device, Available Now, Delivers High-Performance IP Encryption
Security to the Desktop, Reducing Infrastructure Requirements and
Costs ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, announced that the Ethernet module
for its SecNet 54(R) High- Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption
product has received Type 1 certification from the National
Security Agency's Commercial COMSEC Evaluation Program (CCEP). The
Ethernet module provides wired communications security at up to 100
Megabits per second (Mbps) of line speed - a significant increase
in packet encryption rates for highly mobile products servicing
Type 1 IP communications. (Photo:

module (KIV54/EM01) is the first product extension of Harris
Corporation's SecNet 54(R), a first-of-its-kind cryptographic
communications device with a modular architecture that supports
numerous transmission mediums. In its initial configuration,
certified by the NSA last year, SecNet 54(R) was released with an
approved wireless radio module configurable for 802.11a/b/g modes
of operation. "The addition of the Ethernet module to SecNet 54(R)
family significantly enhances the ability of military personnel to
connect to secure Department of Defense networks," said Richard
Rzepkowski, vice president of Communications Security Products,
Harris RF Communications. "The SecNet 54 Ethernet module, in
conjunction with the SecNet 54 crypto module, delivers high-speed
encryption to single or multiple clients with greatly reduced size,
weight, power and implementation costs. Weighing well under a
pound, the Ethernet module brings high-performance encrypted
communications to a user's desktop, workgroups and even Tactical
Operation Centers (TOCs.)" SecNet 54(R) offers high-speed Type 1
encryption for data, video and voice over IP (VoIP). The device
incorporates the NSA-certified Harris Sierra(TM) II encryption
processor and is compliant with the NSA's High Assurance Internet
Protocol Encryption standard (HAIPE(TM).) version 1.3.5 as verified
through formal HAIPE interoperability testing. SecNet 54(R) has a
modular architecture that offers users significant flexibility and
allows for quick utilization of standard communication technologies
such as wired 802.3 Ethernet and wireless 802.11a/b/g. The SecNet
54(R) device is ideal for securing communications on the move or at
the desktop. In an upcoming software upgrade, SecNet 54(R) will
allow users to eliminate commonly used peripheral hardware in field
applications. For more information about the SecNet product family,
