RMI, a leading supplier of Processor Based Solutions for
networking, communications and consumer applications, today
announced that Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international
communications and information technology company, has selected
RMIs XLR Processor as the foundation for its data plane
processing function being developed for the Warfighter Information
Network Tactical (WIN-T) Program. The development is supported by
the Technical Solutions and Services (TSS) Group at RMI which was
chosen because of their extensive design experience and expertise
in platforms based on the XLR Processor. RMI has also been
recognized and has received preferred supplier status by Harris
Corporation. RMIs TSS Group consists of hardware and software
development and design teams as well as a complete offering of
hardware related boards, such as the MC-4104 family of Advanced
Mezzanine Cards. The previously announced AMC Cards from RMI are
ideally suited for Gigabit line-rate, content-aware networking
applications requiring deep packet inspection and manipulation, and
are a standards-based, production-ready solution leveraging RMIs
multi-core, multi-threaded MIPS64 XLR Processor Family. We are
extremely pleased to be selected by Harris for this project. Our
world-class design and services group coupled with the XLR
Processors capabilities allow us to offer best-in-class custom
solutions for leading companies like Harris, said Aseem Parikh,
vice president and general manager, Technology Solutions and
Services at RMI. This unique program is one of many projects
showcasing RMIs flexibility and reach to produce solutions and
services beyond the component level offered at RMI. The
development project awarded to RMI consists of custom board
development for data plane processing along with associated
software that leverages RMIs XLR500 Series processors innovative
architecture, performance and scalability. Harris evaluated
numerous competitive offerings before choosing RMIs TSS Group and
the XLR Processor. Harris selected XLR500 series product family as
it met their applications performance goals within a very
constrained power and thermal environment, while providing them the
ability to port a substantial amount of legacy software written in
C-Programming language. TSS was selected for the design expertise
and for its product offerings, including the MC4104 XLR500 based
Advanced Mezzanine Card that is currently in production. RMI was
selected after an extensive and exhaustive evaluation of potential
vendors, noted Dr. W. Joel D. Johnson, WIN-T Program Lead for
Harris Government Communications Systems. RMI is an excellent
development and technology provider. They have maintained a 100
percent on-time delivery record and very good relations with our
engineering team from the beginning and throughout the critical
design reviews. RMIs solutions push the edge of processor
technology in performance and integration and are used by system
and original equipment manufacturers to address the enterprise,
consumer, and core network markets. The companys XLR, XLS, and
Alchemy Processor families are highly integrated designs
incorporating advanced internal architectures and built on
