WASHINGTON and MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has named Peter Challan, 60, vice president of Government Relations. In this position, he is responsible for the company's relations with the U.S. Congress, the Executive Branch, and defense and aerospace industry representatives located in the Washington, D.C. area. Challan succeeds Joe Hall, who is retiring following a distinguished 20-year career with the company. Challan joined Harris in 2005 as vice president of Washington Programs for Government Communications Systems, with responsibility for program execution and the development of new business with civilian agencies of the U.S. government. Prior to joining Harris, he was senior vice president with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He served the FAA for 35 years in leadership positions on a variety of programs and initiatives, and received numerous awards including the FAA Distinguished Service Award.
