Harris Corporation High Definition Instant Replay System on Display
in Washington, DC WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Have
you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be a National
Football League (NFL) referee? Members and visitors at the National
Press Club in Washington, DC can now experience firsthand some of
what NFL referees encounter when making an important call. Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), provider of the NFL's new high definition
(HD) instant replay system, has created a realistic, hands-on
exhibit that allows visitors to "go under the hood" and view the
video images that referees are examining as they scrutinize close
calls on the field. Located in the Press Club's main lobby, the
display is designed to the specifications of the actual new
instant-replay field units, and simulates the referees' experience
as they scrutinize the calls coaches have challenged. The new HD
instant replay systems are already in use at 28 stadiums nationwide
-- providing referees with video images that are five times sharper
and 20 percent larger than the standard definition systems they
replaced. The systems are located on the fields and in stadium
replay booths, which are staffed by replay officials, a video
technician, a video operator and a communicator. The 2007 NFL
season marks the first time referees in any sport are using HD
format video systems to review close calls. Mike Pereira, the NFL's
vice president of officiating, said, "Our referees are now able to
see images much more clearly, giving reviews in critical situations
the level of scrutiny they truly deserve. It's really a win-win
situation for everyone -- the coaches, players and the fans." The
National Press Club is located at 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor,
Washington, DC. For further information about the NFL instant
replay exhibit, contact the Club at 202-662-7500 or Harris
Corporation at 321-727-9131 or http://www.harris.com/. A high
