Harris Corporation Receives $20 Million Contract from African Armed Forces for Falcon(R) II Radios

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris
Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and
information technology company, has been awarded a contract valued
at nearly $20 million to supply its Falcon(R) II tactical
communications equipment to a new customer in Africa as part of a
major communications standardization program. Harris is scheduled
to begin delivering the equipment later this year. Harris will
supply its RF-5800M multiband radios, the RF-5800V very high
frequency (VHF) radios, and Falcon II high frequency (HF) radios,
in an array of manpack, vehicular and base-station configurations.
In addition, Harris will supply its RF-6010 Tactical Access Network
Hub, providing African armed forces with easy-to-use access to
other voice and data communications networks and systems. "Africa's
communications standardization program has been underway since
2006, and we are pleased to be playing such a significant role in

will empower African armed forces with the advanced communications
abilities needed for use with various U.N.-sponsored peacekeeping

Falcon II RF-5800M, a programmable manpack radio, allows the
peacekeeper to transmit across both the VHF and UHF spectrums,
using frequencies from 30 to 512 MHz. The Falcon II RF-5800V is an
advanced VHF radio that comes in both manpack and handheld
configurations and covers the 30 to 108 MHz frequency spectrum. The
Falcon II HF radio is a secure digital voice and data
communications system. The radio features data rates up to 9600
bps, Automatic Link Establishment (ALE), digital frequency-hopping
and Mixed Excitation Linear Prediction (MELP) digital voice. The
Falcon II RF-6010 Tactical Network Access Hub allows users of
various types of Falcon II radios to gain access to other voice and
