Harris Corporation Awarded $3.7 Million Subcontract for Joint Environmental Toolkit as Part of Raytheon Team

OMAHA, Neb., May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation
(NYSE:HRS), a world leader in satellite communications equipment
and satellite network support and control solutions, today
announced that it has been awarded a $3.7 million subcontract under
Phase 2 of the U.S. Air Force Joint Environmental Toolkit (JET)
program as part of the Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN) JET Enterprise
Team. Harris previously was awarded a $1.2 million subcontract
under Phase 1 of the JET program, bringing the total value of the
subcontract to Harris to $4.9 million with a potential value of
$23.9 million over 54 months. The immediate Phase 2 contract award
to the Raytheon team is valued at $9.3 million, with a total
potential value of $71 million over 54 months. "Harris has been
supporting the Air Force weather community for many years, so we
are particularly pleased to be moving into the second phase of this
program as part of the Raytheon team," said Phil Heacock, vice
president of the Space and Mission Support business area of Harris
Technical Services Corporation. "JET is a very important weather
forecasting initiative that will ultimately enhance battlespace
awareness for the warfighter and play a key role in network-centric
warfare." Under terms of the JET Phase 2 subcontract, Harris is
providing systems engineering, software development, testing,
installation, and training services. The objective of JET is to
replace legacy weather systems with a single, integrated capability
providing tailored weather products to users, interfacing with
command and control systems, and implementing the "to be"
architecture for the Air Force Weather Weapon System (AFWWS). The
program will employ evolutionary acquisition concepts that deliver
a scalable hardware and software system for providing commonality
and meeting U.S. Air Force and Army needs for weather forecast
generation, meteorological watch, and observation management, with
increased accuracy and decreased latency. Harris Technical Services
