New Features Deliver Enhanced Support for Enterprise Business
Operations LAS VEGAS, NAB 2006, April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced an enhanced
D-Series(TM) Playout Automation solution that interfaces with the
H-Class(TM) Content Delivery Platform for more efficient workflow
in multi-channel environments. New features include the dynamic
exchange of play list and "as-run" data. The enhanced solution also
includes native interfaces with the H-Class(TM) Platform, which
provide existing and new D-Series(TM) customers with tighter
integration to other H-Class applications, such as H-Class(TM)
Scheduling, H-Class(TM) Media Ingest and H-Class(TM) Digital Asset
Management. Integration with the H-Class Content Delivery Platform
introduces the proven reliability and scalability (up to 1,000
channels) of the D-Series solution to other enterprise-scale
H-Class Platform clients, making it possible for these businesses
to consider new revenue models as they enter the multi-channel,
multi-service world of digital television (DTV). The new
D-Series/H-Class Platform interface will be demonstrated in the
South Hall at Harris booth #SU2929. "The D-Series solution gives
customers the flexibility to pursue peripheral markets once thought
unreachable with current channel counts," said Chris Jones, Harris
product line manager for D-Series. "By utilizing D-Series(TM) in
combination with other elements of the H-Class Application Suite,
customers gain a dramatic competitive advantage through increased
performance and improved capability to streamline their operations,
increase productivity, optimize revenue streams and reduce
operational and infrastructure costs. D-Series(TM) is clearly the
mid- and large-scale automation solution for the business-focused
enterprise." XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite
radio company, has relied on the Harris D-Series automation
solution since its launch in 2001. "The Harris D-Series automation
system has been flawlessly operating at XM," said John Archer, vice
president of Operations, XM. "The ability to take content, place it
across multiple channels, and reconcile it at the end of the day
takes a lot of technology. With Harris, we know we have it covered.
Their solution delivers a cost-effective platform for XM to deliver
more than 160 channels to subscribers from coast to coast."
Designed as a mission-critical automation solution for
direct-to-home (DTH) satellite delivery services platforms, cable
MSOs, and global and national commercial TV networks, the Harris
D-Series automation solution emphasizes workflow efficiency. With
complete scalability and redundancy, the D-Series(TM) allows
stations to manage complex, multi-channel operations while
employing a small number of staff. In addition, D-Series(TM)
customers can reconfigure and upgrade their systems while remaining
"on air." Today's release of D-Series Playout Automation supports a
range of new H-Class Platform features including: * Dynamic
exchange of play list data - Interfaces with H-Class Content
Delivery Platform, providing highly granular, event-based message
flow from H-Class(TM) Scheduling to D-Series(TM). This new feature
allows scheduling and traffic systems to increase and optimize
revenue streams by selling premium airtime close to play-out time.
* Dynamic exchange of "as-run" data - Interfaces with H-Class
Content Delivery Platform, providing immediate "as-run" reporting
between D-Series(TM) and H-Class(TM) Scheduling. This new feature
allows traffic managers to protect revenue by reacting to
last-minute schedule changes made in master control. It also
inserts "make good" spots on the day of air instead of losing
future airtime sales. These dynamic interfaces with traffic and
billing are ideal for broadcasters seeking to efficiently maximize
the value of their business assets. General Pricing and
Availability Pricing is based on customer configuration. The latest
release of D-Series Playout Automation will ship in July 2006.
