Booths to Highlight Total Content Delivery Solutions For Mobile TV Networks CINCINNATI, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation's (NYSE:HRS) Broadcast Communications Division's products and systems for the emerging mobile TV market will be on display at NAB2006. Recent launch announcements from two mobile TV networks have signaled the dawn of true, live broadcast television delivery to handheld devices in the United States. Harris' participation in early stage trials across Europe and Australia, well- documented in 2005, has positioned the company as a leading transmission vendor for mobile TV requirements. The company's mobile TV transmission solutions have been used to develop and prove the effectiveness of the DVB-H, FLO(TM) and T-DMB standards for mobile broadcast television. At NAB2006, Harris will highlight its total content delivery solutions for mobile TV that expand far beyond transmission to include infrastructure, broadband software and distribution equipment. "Harris' expertise in television broadcast equipment and systems has the company well-prepared for the growth of mobile TV worldwide," said Jeremy Wensinger, president of Harris Broadcast Communications Division. "Besides TV transmitter products, Harris offers total content management solutions that enable mobile TV operators to quickly implement effective applications for this rapidly developing area. Between our successes in major mobile transmission trials and our range of content production, distribution and management systems, Harris is poised to lead the emerging mobile TV networks into effective operations." Harris began developing terrestrial transmission platforms for mobile TV in 2004 after participating in early demonstrations and the development of the DVB-H standard. The company's recent acquisition of Leitch Technology has added a range of servers, routers, switchers and processing equipment to Harris NetVX(TM) video encoding and distribution systems, providing the infrastructure for bringing content into the mobile TV headend. Meanwhile, equipment from Harris' Software Systems business unit adds a complement of broadband software and distribution equipment for network management, traffic scheduling, digital asset management and ad insertion, among other applications. The entire portfolio gives Harris the most comprehensive solution for mobile TV. Mobile TV applications are highlighted in the Harris booths at NAB2006, with the DVB-H and FLO(TM) modulation schemes demonstrated with Harris' latest transmission product solutions in the Central Hall. In the Harris South Hall booth, visitors will be able to explore the Leitch and Harris Software Solutions products for mobile TV applications. "Harris offers a comprehensive range of innovative RF solutions for DVB-H and FLO(TM) applications in a variety of frequency bands," said Dale Mowry, vice president and general manager of Harris' Television Broadcast Systems business unit. "Combined with the broad range of Leitch systems, NetVX(TM) networking systems and Harris Software Systems, Harris offers mobile TV operators an end-to-end portfolio that delivers multi-standard functionality, open interoperability, advanced software, and proven transmission experience."
