Analysis and Remote Monitoring - MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 22
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading
global provider of turnkey network management systems, wireless
equipment and services, today announced that Fox Networks
Engineering & Operations, a collection of 14 leading regional
sports services, has implemented Harris NetBoss(R) Remote
Monitoring Services (RMS) for network monitoring and network
reporting. NetBoss Remote Monitoring Services provides network
operators with all of the functionality of a world-class Network
Operations Center (NOC) without the associated ongoing capital and
operating expense. "With previous solutions, we would receive
unfiltered alarm data that resulted in unnecessary actions and
generated a great deal of additional operating expense," said
Richard Friedel, executive vice president and general manager for
Fox Networks Engineering & Operations. "As a result, we needed
a solution that could not only provide a reliable service, but
could also assist Fox in making the proper response to a network
event. Harris' Remote Monitoring Services delivers what we need."
The NetBoss Remote Monitoring Services offering combines Harris'
extensive experience implementing NOC solutions for some of the
world's largest network operators with its award-winning NetBoss
network management system. The result is advanced network
monitoring and reporting, and consulting services that allow
organizations to receive complete visibility and control of their
networks 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Using NetBoss RMS, Harris
personnel can view any network faults and provide real-time,
actionable information to Fox Networks Engineering &
Operations. Fox can then make informed decisions about its network
alternatives and take appropriate actions. Fox gains greater
visibility into its network while dramatically reducing both
capital and operating expenditures, as Harris now provides the
expertise and network monitoring that would otherwise have to be
done in-house. "Network operators need more than just data from
their networks, they need the expertise to determine how to respond
to this information," said John Koenig, vice president of Harris'
NetBoss business unit. "NetBoss RMS allows operators such as the
Fox Sports Networks to take advantage of Harris' expertise to
ensure network continuity without the ongoing capital and operating
expense of in-house services." NetBoss Remote Monitoring Services
are provided by Harris' world-class NOC in Melbourne, FL, which
supports some of the world's largest network operators with
management and monitoring capabilities. NetBoss RMS enables
around-the- clock monitoring of all network equipment 365 days a
year, and provides trouble ticket notification, escalation and
follow up, and verification of problem resolution. In addition,
NetBoss Remote Monitoring Services provides network operators with
the management reports they need to ensure their network is running
according to predetermined parameters, as well as regular standard
reports on alarms and maintenance issues to selected management
personnel. NetBoss RMS also provides event management features,
including opening, tracking and closing trouble tickets. Harris can
also perform remote equipment diagnostics, remote equipment
management (reset/reboot of equipment), trouble dispatch to the
service provider's technicians or subcontractors and proactive
management of the repair process. NetBoss Remote Monitoring
