Ethan Allen Expanding with Design Centers

Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. (�Ethan Allen� or the �Company�) (NYSE:ETH), America�s leading interior design company and one-stop shopping source for the well-designed home, continues its pursuit of business opportunities with the opening of thirteen design centers since the beginning of this fiscal year in July, 2008, following a record twenty-three opened last fiscal year in the United States and abroad. The Company also launched its new state-of-the-art website, ethanallen.com, which was recently awarded recognition as an Outstanding Website by the Web Marketing Association.

�We are pleased that even during these challenging times we continue to move our business forward in both domestic and international markets,� said Farooq Kathwari, the Chairman, President, and CEO of Ethan Allen. �We are refining and focusing our retail presence, making sure we have the right locations and the right size Design Center for each market. And the new website offers clients the personal service of our interior design professionals with the advantages of up-to-date technology.�

The thirteen new Design Centers opened this fiscal year include four in China; Ethan Allen has plans to open at least another fifteen locations at home and abroad by December, 2009, including one in Dubai, U.A.E., scheduled for this summer.

As part of the expansion, Ethan Allen recently opened the first of its new concept Design Centers in Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by two others in Lansing, Michigan, and Davenport, Iowa. The new concept Design Centers range in size from 3,000 to 6,000 square feet and offer clients access to all Ethan Allen products and services.

�These Design Centers carry a sampling of products combined with all the necessary interior design tools including unique capabilities of our new website ethanallen.com and the personal service of our design consultants,� said Mr. Kathwari. �We are pleased to be able to provide access to the full range of our products in the more intimate new concept Design Centers, which are modeled after the classic professional interior design studio.�

Mr. Kathwari further stated, �We currently have 250 Design Centers in North America. Now we will also reach many more markets where our new smaller Design Centers are viable. We are having conversations with furniture retailers, interior designers, and other entrepreneurs around the country to grow this new concept.�
