ENI SpA (ENI.MI) said Wednesday that it has acquired exclusive
exploration and development rights for a block in deep waters
offshore Mozambique, after winning the country's latest bidding
round.
The A5-A block covers more than 5,000 square kilometers at
depths of between 300 meters and 1,800 meters and is completely
unexplored, Eni said.
It sits in the Northern Zambezi Basin, near the prolific Rovuma
Basin, where Eni has been developing the Mamba LNG reservoirs.
Eni is the operator of the Block A5-A Consortium, which also
comprises Sasol Ltd. (SOL.JO) and Mozambique's national oil company
ENH.
