Eni SpA (ENI.MI) said Thursday that it has made a lean gas
discovery in Block 6 offshore Cyprus.
The company said that it found an extended gas column in rocks
from the Miocene and Cretaceous age, the latter of which has
"excellent reservoir characteristics."
The Italian company said that the well was drilled in 2,074
meters of water, with a final total depth of 3,827 meters.
Further studies will be conducted to evaluate the range of the
gas volumes, as well as to define additional exploration and
appraisal operations, Eni said.
With a 50% participation interest, Eni is the operator of Block
6. Total is a partner with the other 50% stake.
