Shelaghmichael Brown Named to BBVA Compass Board of Directors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass announced today that Shelaghmichael Brown has been appointed to serve as a member of the BBVA Compass Board of Directors. Named to U.S. Banker's list of the '25 Most Powerful Women in Banking' each of the past two years, Brown has spearheaded BBVA Compass' Retail Banking Division, overseeing a distribution system that includes more than 700 branches, alternative delivery channels, mobile banking as well as products and services for consumers and small businesses.

Brown joined BBVA Compass in 2007, after serving in various leadership roles including President and CEO of Telecheck International, Inc. and Executive Vice President at JPMorgan Chase Bank where she was responsible for the nationwide consumer banking segment. In 2008, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA). As part of CBA's 20-member board of senior retail banking executives, Brown helped guide the organization in its advocacy for consumer and small business banking in Washington. Brown is also a board member of CanCare, an organization that provides emotional support to individuals facing cancer.
