MANDIANT, the leader in advanced threat detection and response
solutions, today announced that Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL) has
selected MANDIANT Intelligent Response® (MIR™) to enhance its
ability to detect, respond to and contain cyber security threats.
MIR is the trusted solution used by computer incident response
teams at the world’s largest financial institutions, defense
contractors, energy companies and manufacturers to identify and
respond to advanced targeted threats, including the Advanced
Persistent Threat (APT).

combat advanced threats. MIR is used by enterprise and government

“As the threats we face grow increasingly sophisticated we
needed the ability to rapidly detect and respond to targeted
attacks that are engineered to circumvent our preventive defenses,”
said Matt Morton, Global Security Architect with Ball Corporation.
“MANDIANT Intelligent Response has the ability to monitor the tens
of thousands of endpoints in our environment. With MANDIANT, we
believe we can determine the scope of an attack so that we can
respond faster, limit losses and minimize the disruption to our
ongoing business.”
MIR combats advanced targeted threats by using MANDIANT’s
precise intelligence about attackers’ techniques, tools and tactics
to evaluate every endpoint within an organization and determine
whether it has been compromised. When MIR identifies an attack, it
enables an organization to minimize its effect by directing the
response to the breach.
“Criminal and state-sponsored groups are constantly evolving the
tactics they use to target, attack and infiltrate organizations’ IT
environments,” said MANDIANT President and Chief Operating Officer
Travis Reese. “While security breaches are inevitable, MIR equips
organizations like Ball with the tools and intelligence to rapidly
detect, respond and contain these threats.”
“Successful incident response and forensics require
organizations to invest in both human and technology-driven
intelligence in order to effectively limit the scope of attack and
restore affected operations to normalcy,” said Andrew Hay, senior
analyst with The 451 Group’s Enterprise Security Practice.
"Investments in products like MANDIANT Intelligent Response reflect
the increasing market demand for enterprise-grade incident response
and forensics tools required to find a particular needle in a stack
of needles.”
